I am not the best in the field and you probably never heard of me. People may think that my opinion don’t count since I never really got the chance to enter the field of advertising. But at the end of the day I believe that I have a voice and an awesome blog. So this is my top 4 PSA and I’m hoping that you guys would love it too.

This 60 sec TV Ad entitled Pagibig (love) done by Publicis Manila perfectly captured how Nestle products have been part of the Filipino people daily lives. Showing a heart warming story of two people finding love in their young age and eventually growing old together. What I love about this TV ad campaign by Nestle is that it didn’t focus on the brand but  rather it gave the spotlight to their consumers. Watching this TV ad reminded me why I fell inlove with Advertising and made me hope to do something like this one day. I believe consumer insight holds the key to a good advertising campaign. It makes the audience feel that the ad is talking to them and eventually see how that product can fit into their lives.

Nestle is a brand who cares and they have manage to be in the business for over a 100 years now. That says a lot and I know that there will be many years to come for this brand. More new products to make sure that people all over the world will get the best quality food for their family. As their slogan says,” Good food, Good Life.”

Pagibig (Love) 60 sec. TV Ad by Nestle

This 1 minuter TV advertisement by Coca Cola, features a young girl (Nikki Gil) singing a song while walking in the busy streets of Manila and handing out a  bottle of Coke to different passer by.  Together with the bottle of Coke is a smile in that girl’s face while sharing her optimism to her co-Filipino people through a song. This TV ad shows the side of the people here in the Philippines being naturally caring and loves to share their blessing to fellow Filipinos. It’s the simple act of kindness and optimism that set us apart from others. Remembering the time when we experienced Typhoon Ondoy where most of the streets and community were flooded. Only Filipino can smile after a disaster, extending a loving and helping hand to their neighbors. That’s a big part of the reason why I can say I’m proud to be a Filipino.

Japan

This clever ad actually make people in Japoan bow when they read this one, since they put the copy in a lower portion of the canvas. Also we all know that Japanese bow their head as part of their culture to show respect.

Thailand

Thailand have been known as one of the countries who have a lot of elephants in their area. They actually used them as part of their daily lives, where elephants helps them with their task. So if you found an elephant, possibly Thailand will be the first country you’ll remember.

Philippines

Philippines had created a long lasting impression to the other countries after the Filipino people freed themselves to the Marcos regime. One woman have been very active in this freedom and also became the president of the country. But if you look back, that woman named COry Aquino fight Marcos governance after the death of the late Ninoy Aquino. Who have been now a big personality in the Philippines. This glasses had been his trademark and he represents democracy in the Philippines.

Another great TV ad I encountered, it really did made me laugh. I watched this from the TV ad collection of My College professor and I admired it since then. The insight of the ad is really out of the box and it captured the true image that they want to build for Hummer H3.

This was actually the TV Ad of the Hummer under GM Motors entitled “Monsters” at the 2006 Superbowl. As we all know Superbowl is one of the event where advertisers wants to showcase their new ad campaigns.  This TV ad is a love story between a Giant Robot and Godzilla Monster. They find love while destroying a city and then they make a baby. The baby of a mechanical robot and a monster is Hummer H3. That is one great insight right!? They take the monster truck literally and delivered it in a very unique way. This surely gave the Superbowl viewers when they first encountered this a good laugh and feel refreshed to see an automotive ad in this manner. Because as I’ve noticed, most ads for cars usually focus on the car features, but in this ad they just explain what Hummer H3 can do in their copy. “It’s a little Monster. The New Hummer H3, Like Nothing Else.” Nice copy right!? says it all of what image Hummer H3 is trying to send. I hope to see more ads like this that can really stand out from the clutter of ads that we see daily.

This is a personal favorite of mine and I would like to believe that also a favorite by many Filipinos out there who have met Karen and her Lolo. The McDonalds 45 seconder TV ad entitled “Lolo” (grandfather) was made last Oct., 2010 by Leo Burnett Ad Agency. This is a story of a teenage girl named Karen who’s having a bonding time with her Lolo at McDonalds by eating a Mcburger. But her Lolo keep on calling her Gina all the time due to his Alzheimer and Karen just showed trough her gestures how disappointed she was. Then the heart warming twist happened where Lolo starts to cut the burger in half while saying his line “… eto para sa paborito kong apo, si Karen.” That line made the Philippines said Ahhh…., that scene made them want to see this TV ad again. Karen just gave a smile in the last frame of the TV Ad while a little McDonald Logo flashes in the side for a few seconds.

So without any bias, why do I think this is a good and insightful advertisement? Well, because this has pure Filipino values all over it. I don’t have a clear idea what would be the root of this concept, but let me try to guess here. Maybe the objective of this marketing campaign is to promote Filipino values using McBurger. So they start listing different Filipino values and there are really a lot of them to choose from. Then they  finally decided to go for the Respect for the Elders and Family Ties. (Brilliant move I must say) So now the next thing they researched is what’s with the old people? and one brilliant guy/girl suggested Alzheimer disease. (Alzheimer is the most common form of dementia. ) This disease is not yet well understand and a very common trend to most Filipino families. I for one had witnessed this when my grandmother was suffering from this dementia and I tell you its very heart wrecking. But I think this was the special element that really gave this TV ad a heart.  Because base on my personal experience, it’s true that a person with Alzheimer remember the person that they love the most. So while Karen thought that her Lolo forgot her already, then again she’s still the person that he seems to never forget. Remember that the process that I’ve just said was just my wild guess, but I hope I did this Ad justice. This TV Ad is really worth remembering, very beautiful Insight.
